Certifications & Regulations
Compliance & Safety
Every load we move is backed by rigorous certification, documented procedures, and a safety record built over two decades of Ontario hazmat operations.
Credentials
Our Certifications
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
All drivers and handlers hold current TDG certification under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992. Certification is renewed on a mandatory schedule and covers classification, documentation, placarding, and emergency response.
Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR)
Orangeville Transport holds an active CVOR certificate with a clean safety rating. Our fleet undergoes regular MTO inspections and all drivers maintain valid commercial licences with the appropriate endorsements.
WHMIS 2015
All personnel handling dangerous goods are trained under WHMIS 2015, aligned with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). Training covers hazard identification, SDS interpretation, and proper handling procedures.
Transport Canada Carrier Registration
Registered federally as a dangerous goods carrier. Our registration covers all hazard classes we transport and is maintained in good standing with annual compliance reviews.
CANUTEC Emergency Response
All shipments are linked to CANUTEC — Canada's 24/7 emergency response centre for dangerous goods incidents. Emergency response information is included with every shipping document.
Ontario Carrier Licence
Fully licensed to operate as a for-hire carrier in Ontario. Our licence covers the transport of dangerous goods across all regions of the province, including restricted corridors and urban delivery zones.
How We Operate
Safety Procedures
Compliance isn't a checklist — it's built into every step of how we operate.
Pre-Trip Inspection
Every vehicle undergoes a mandatory pre-trip inspection before each load. Drivers check brakes, tires, lighting, placarding, containment integrity, and emergency equipment before departure.
Shipping Documentation
Every dangerous goods shipment is accompanied by a compliant shipping document including proper shipping name, UN number, hazard class, packing group, quantity, and emergency contact information.
Placarding & Labelling
All vehicles are placarded in accordance with TDG regulations. Labels and placards are inspected before departure and replaced immediately if damaged or illegible.
Spill & Incident Response
Drivers carry spill kits, neutralization agents, and personal protective equipment appropriate to the cargo class. All incidents are reported to CANUTEC and the relevant regulatory authority within required timeframes.
Route Planning & Permits
High-risk loads are routed to avoid populated areas, tunnels, and restricted corridors where required. Permits are obtained in advance for oversized or specially regulated shipments.
Driver Training & Recertification
All drivers complete annual safety refreshers in addition to mandatory TDG recertification. Training records are maintained and available for regulatory audit on request.
